Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference?

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils within a specialist SEN school in Bridgwater. This rewarding role involves working closely with children and young people who have a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.

This position is ideally suited to someone with previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), either within a school, specialist provision, care setting, or similar environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with a variety of special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, Learning Disabilities, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Work on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to support learning and development.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  • Implement individual learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive outcomes for all pupils.
  • Assist with personal care where required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN needs.
  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
